Quality Assurance
Installer/builder Qualifications
Please ensure that you are working with an experienced installer/builder who has successfully worked with and installed solid wood table tops in a setting similar to yours.
Installation Qualifications
Leave yourself ample time to adequately plan each step of your project. Proper planning and correct knowledge will yield the best results possible.
Project Conditions
Maintain relative humidity and ambient temperature planned for building occupants.
Storage & Handling
- Protect table top products from exposure to moisture, dirt and like conditions.
- Do not receive delivery until after concrete, masonry, plaster, ceramic tile and similar wet work is completely cured and dried.
Use
- Your tables are designed and built for an indoor climate controlled environment.
- Do not use them or store them outdoors.
Storage
- All products need to be stored in a dry, protected area that will remain free of extreme temperatures and low humidities. Recommended temperatures for the air surrounding table and countertop products are between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity levels between 30 and 50%.
- Items should remain stacked in a horizontal position until installation is to occur.
- A protective layer such as cardboard or packing paper should remain between each unit.
- The storage area should be free of any moisture, including construction areas where excessive moisture exists.
Owner/Installer Responsibilities
-
Wood is a product of nature and therefore will have character markings such as knots and holes which have been filled.
- Prior to installation of any product, the owner/installer/agent must determine that the job-site environment and the sub-surfaces involved meet or exceed all applicable standards.
- Manufacturer declines any responsibility for product failure from or associated with job-site deficiencies.
Installation Method
-
We take great steps to ensure our table tops last over the years; we hope that you will help in this effort.
- Choose a good quality wood screw. For 1-3/4" thick tops, we like to use a #10 or #12 x1 1.5” screw with a round washer head. For 1-1/4" thick tops, reduce the screw length to 3/4" length or 1" length.
- Pre-drill in desired location using a drill bit that is slightly smaller in diameter then the screw diameter.
- The fastener should be centered on the hole and should not be over-tightened; simply tighten until “snug”.
Heat Resistance
-
No wood finish is completely resistant to heat. A good rule of thumb to follow is that if the plate is too hot to hold in your hands, it is too hot to put directly on the table top. For plates that are too hot to handle, we recommend using a trivet, hot pad or similar.
Cleaning & Care
Two-part acrylic polyurethane finish has excellent resistance to foods, beverages and common cleaning chemicals. However, to maintain the beautiful appearance of the new tabletops a few guidelines must be followed:
-
Regular care is the best policy for maintaining wood tops.
- Keep a clean surface to prevent dust and dirt from scratching and grinding into the finish over time.
- Keep away from excessive moisture and humidity.
- We recommend Soapy Water, Pro Lysol disinfectant wipes or Clorox disinfectant wipes.
- If a non-approved cleaner is used the product warranty will be voided.
- If you intend to use any other product, please contact us to confirm that it will not damage the finish.
Avoid
-
Silicone-based cleaners or polishes.
-
Any product that contains sulfuric or muriatic acid, diluted or a derivative of either product.
- Cleaners with gritty abrasives and scrubbing or scouring pads that may damage or scratch the surface.
- Putting chairs on the table tops unless there is a protective barrier or padding put down.
